Acquired in 2022
Orderbird AG was founded in 2011 in Berlin by Jakob Schreyer, Artur Hasselbach, Steven Reinisch and Bastian Schmidtke. The company positions itself as the "#1 iPad POS for hospitality" in the German-speaking markets.
In May 2022, Orderbird was acquired by the Nexi Group (via subsidiary Nets) for an estimated $140-150 million. Nexi is Europe's largest PayTech company. Orderbird operates as an independent subsidiary and keeps its own brand and team.
The company has a strategic partnership with DEHOGA Nordrhein (the German hospitality association), which gives it a strong position in the German market. Around 78% of their customers are in Germany, the rest in Austria, Switzerland and France.

Based purely on starting rates, Orderbird PRO can work out cheaper than Hebtrek Connect at higher order volumes. However, Orderbird is not available in the Netherlands. On top of that: the iPad has to be purchased separately, higher tiers cost more, and payment processing is not included. Hebtrek Connect also includes the kitchen display and the Naavi rider app for free.

"We were looking for an iPad POS, but found something better"
"We heard about Orderbird through a colleague in Berlin. Unfortunately, it doesn't work in the Netherlands. Then we found Hebtrek Connect: it runs on our existing laptop, the kitchen display replaces our order slip printer, and the Naavi app is perfect for our own delivery riders. And no fixed monthly costs!"

Orderbird is not available in the Netherlands. Hebtrek Connect is built for Dutch restaurants – with everything included.
orderbird sells you a cash register. Hebtrek gives you a cash register plus a place where guests actually order: hebtrek.nl, the Dutch ordering platform behind Hebtrek Connect.
There are no monthly fees and no setup costs. You only pay commission on the orders that actually come in: 8% when you deliver yourself and 28% when a Hebtrek courier rides the order. A quiet week simply costs less, because there is no subscription running in the background.
Orders from hebtrek.nl land in the same POS as your table orders, counter orders and delivery channels. One menu, one receipt printer, one revenue report. Nothing has to be maintained twice.
